I wouldn't mind Virginia Woolf's long, rambling sentences if there was any sort of plot to follow. She really does construct some beautiful prose, but I don't like the stream of consciousness narration and the constantly shifting point of view. I feel no connection to the characters and no desire to continue following their lives. I feel terribly guilty, because I feel almost obligated to love Virginia Woolf and while I understand her contribution to literature, she's just not for me.
