The third -- and thus far weakest -- installment in the Kenzie and Gennaro series finds Patrick and Angela wooed back to their investigation agency by a wealthy old man whose daughter has gone missing along with the first detective hired to find her, an old friend of Patrick's. The two travel to Florida to track her down and find themselves in the middle of an unnecessarily complex and twisted family saga. Oh, then they realize that they've always loved each other and blah, blah, blah.
A whole lot of telling without showing, and a noticeable lack of the themes and Bigger Questions that I enjoy in Lehane's previous work. On top of all that, the mystery didn't hook me...I just didn't care what the resolution was, I just wanted it to be over. Very disappointing, this one.
